Measure before you print
How big can I print
my photo?
Enter the pixels you have. See the print sizes they support at three image densities, with no upload or account.
Start with your image dimensions
No upload neededFind these in your image's file properties. Use the dimensions after cropping, measured in pixels.
At 150 DPI / PPI
67.73 × 50.80 cm
26.67 × 20.00 inches
At 300 DPI / PPI
33.87 × 25.40 cm
13.33 × 10.00 inches
At 600 DPI / PPI
16.93 × 12.70 cm
6.67 × 5.00 inches
Sizes are shown to two decimal places, without cropping or adding pixels. The result describes pixel density, not a guarantee of sharpness.

Print size and resolution reference
Pixel requirements for the full paper size, without bleed. Rotate the image by exchanging width and height. These general reference values include sizes beyond PrintScale's current output limits.
| Paper / print | Size in cm | 150 PPI | 300 PPI | 600 PPI |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A4 | 21 × 29.7 | 1,240 × 1,754 | 2,480 × 3,508 | 4,961 × 7,016 |
| A3 | 29.7 × 42 | 1,754 × 2,480 | 3,508 × 4,961 | 7,016 × 9,921 |
| A2 | 42 × 59.4 | 2,480 × 3,508 | 4,961 × 7,016 | 9,921 × 14,031 |
| A1 | 59.4 × 84.1 | 3,508 × 4,967 | 7,016 × 9,933 | 14,031 × 19,866 |
| A0 | 84.1 × 118.9 | 4,967 × 7,022 | 9,933 × 14,043 | 19,866 × 28,087 |
| 30 × 40 cm | 30 × 40 | 1,772 × 2,362 | 3,543 × 4,724 | 7,087 × 9,449 |

The calculation
Print size in inches = pixels ÷ PPI. Multiply inches by 2.54 for centimetres. For required pixels, divide centimetres by 2.54, multiply by PPI, and round to the nearest whole pixel.
For example, an A1 edge of 59.4 cm at 300 PPI needs 7,016 pixels. Its 84.1 cm edge needs 9,933 pixels.
DPI, PPI and actual sharpness
These calculations use image pixels per inch (PPI), often called DPI in print settings. Printer dots per inch are a different measurement. Focus, compression, paper and viewing distance also affect the result.
